Update on Worship

Brothers and sisters,

As you are likely aware, the province of Alberta issued updated guidelines last week for places of worship as a part of the first phase of relaunching our society. You can read those guidelines here:

In accordance with this guidance, we will be opening up our morning service to a maximum of 50 people. We will continue to live-stream this service for everyone else who needs to remain at home. The elderly, front line health care workers, the immune compromised, those who are feeling unwell (even with mild symptoms), and people in other at-risk groups should remain at home.

There will continue to be restrictions in place for those who attend. There will be no child care during the service and there will be no fellowship hour following. Children may come with their family, but they must sit with their family and remain at their seats. If this will prove difficult for your children, you should remain home. Hand sanitizer is available at the front door and the church hall entrance. Attenders should use it when entering and exiting the building.

Group singing is still not permitted. We will have two or three people singing for the live stream, but the group gathered in the church will not be permitted to sing. If it is important to you that you be able to sing along with the music on Sunday, you should remain home.

Those who attend will need to maintain physical distancing and it is encouraged that they wear masks. We will not collect an offering, but a plate will be available at the back of the sanctuary to drop an envelope into on the way in. To keep outside air circulating through the room, the windows will be open and the ceiling fans on, even if it is cool or raining outside. Attenders should bring a sweater or jacket if they believe they will need it.

To manage our numbers and ensure physical distancing while seated, those who would like to attend must let the church office know by phone call or email prior to noon on Friday. The office will confirm your attendance and assign a row in which to sit for you and any family coming with you. If you do not attend this Sunday, but decide in a future week that you would like to, you can contact the church office.

We miss gathering together. While it is a small one, we’re encouraged that we can take this step toward the church meeting together again. Please continue to pray for the health care workers, government leaders, and public health officials managing the province’s response to the pandemic. Please also remember to pray for those working in essential services and for those unemployed or struggling right now.

In Christ,

Pastor Jeff
